Book Editing

One of the biggest mistakes that you can make when publishing is to skip professional editing. When you read your own work, you might be seeing what you meant rather than what you actually wrote (you might not notice a missing word because, in your mind, it’s already there!). This is normal for the writer’s mind, but it can lead to confusion for the reader. You need to have another set of eyes take a look at your manuscript, and our editors have the experience and expertise that will ensure your manuscript is ready for publication.

Line Editing + Proofreading

Line editing is an essential part of the editing process for any manuscript bound for publication. Intended as the next step after comprehensive/content editing, this line-by-line process addresses errors and inconsistencies in grammar, punctuation, spelling, sentence structure, and stylistic consistency, e.g. “76” vs. “seventy-six.” With line editing, our editors implement suggested changes in accordance with the Chicago Manual of Style using Word’s Track Changes feature, which will allow the author to review every edit and suggested revision as needed. After this review, we will folo wup with a round of proofreading.

Proofreading is to catch those last-minute accidents that may have been missed during line editing. It is assumed that all content is final, the only thing left is to expunge those final surface mistakes—typos, missing punctuation, etc.—to complete the editorial process using Word’s Track Changes feature.
