Do not go near this company I thought I was safe, did some research and thought that AuthorHouse was the best way forward. It's not. First - If you're a UK resident, DO NOT pay by credit card. They charge it in america, meaning tehy convert it to Dollars, and then your card company converts it to Sterling. For a £1330 bill I had to pay an extra £40! This was not made clear when i was paying. Then came the problems with galleys, between amateurish covers that took weeks to correct and the novel galleys that took longer to come, leaving me under pressure for my realease date. And don't even start with royalty payments. Authorhouse, even though you will pay for the book to be published, charges pathetically high prices, and the higher the royalty percentage selected, the more profit AuthorHouse makes. There customer service is very poor and they HATE people who complain (ie me) Be safe and keep your money.

First, I would not even give these clowns a star, but the computer forced me to give them one. I had similar problems with paying for two extra galleys due to problems THEY made... my final cost was in the THOUSANDS. They promised me free books for a charity event, and I wound up looking like a fool because the books were never sent. The company's explanation was "sorry." This company will ignore you and milk you for every penny... and the end result is still unsatisfactory to say the least. They recently decided to charge extra to list their authors' books on Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com, even their own AuthorHouse website! A disgrace! That service was the main reason I brought them my business, and two years later they are still sticking it to me! There is no limit to the ridiculous crap this company pulls. I would rather flush my money down the toilet than to do business with this company again.

If I could have given AuthorHouse a negative number above, I would have done so... I am posting this with fake initials as I am STUCK with this group of incompetents until my book is in print. Here are the problems I experienced: 1. They switched my contact person without notifying me and, when I called to complain 2 months, 3 phone messages and 3 unanswered emails later, they called me a liar. 2. I went through EIGHT galleys to get their copy to look like the clean manuscript I submitted. 3. There were at least FOUR galleys full of changes that they ignored, sending me the prior galley with only 1 or 2 of the 60+ changes made, apparently expecting that I would not notice! 4. When they finally DID correct the errors I identified, they created NEW ERRORS that they did not catch, again requiring me to identify and report the NEW errors. 5. They posted my book on their website with 30 errors in the one page of promotional text and again, I had provided clean text. I caught and documented the mistakes and had to threaten a lawsuit to get them to correct them. THESE PEOPLE ARE A NIGHTMARE and do not deserve your serious consideration as a partner.

To this day I am completely upset with the service I’ve received or should I say haven’t received from this agency. I’ve been trying to make contact with them since December and to this day there has still been no response in reference to my request. They have received all payments on time. My first book was delivered in the mail but it contained another author’s material on the inside of my front and back covers. Needless to say I was very upset because the excitement was overwhelming in seeing my first creation finally in writing. In asking for some sort of compensation for the mishap, all I received was a statement saying things happen and they were not responsible for binding of the books. I have left numerous messages with both the original sales person as well as his supervisor and not even a return call. But as soon as the book was finished I started received automatic emails offering these great deals when publishing a second book……….Amazing.

I agree with all of the above. The worst mistake you could make is going with this co. They deliberately drag the process out and insert errors of their own to pull you along. extremely poor performance in every category. thir aim is to get you to spend extra money on promotion like New York Times ads for $7500.
